Alex Ovechkin Shares a Special Moment With Penguins Fans After Surpassing Incredible Milestone

Last night, Ovechkin once again re-wrote the history books becoming the first player in NHL history to score 900 career goals.

After accomplishing the feat against the St. Louis Blues, Ovechkin traveled to Pittsburgh with the Capitals and was met with an unexpected reaction from Penguins fans.

During Thursday night's game, the Penguins gave Ovechkin a moment of recognition after his 900th career goal the previous game.

After being put on the Jumbotron fans proceeded to give Ovechkin a standing ovation showing their appreciation for Ovi even though he is a rival.

Ovechkin of course has a heated rivalry with the Pittsburgh Penguins dating back decades now including multiple fantastic and historic Stanley Cup Playoff series going up against Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

After the game, the special moments continued as Evgeni Malkin and Alex Ovechkin did a jersey swap in what could be one of the last matchups between the two NHL legends.

The Penguins will have to wait until April to play the Capitals again in what could be the final games in the NHL careers of Evgeni Malkin and Alex Ovechkin on the ice together after almost two decades of battles together on rival teams.

As the season continues, it will be interesting to see if other teams give a tribute to Ovechkin for his accomplishments or if the praise stops in Pittsburgh.
