Another Member Leaves Pittsburgh Penguins Staff Amid Sullivan's Departure

Not long after it was announced that the Pittsburgh Penguins are moving on from head coach Mike Sullivan, another member of the staff announced their departure.
The Pittsburgh Penguins announced a major change in leadership behind the bench earlier today, revealing that they were moving on from former Stanley Cup-winning head coach Mike Sullivan.
Sullivan had been one of the longest-tenured coaches in the NHL, having been on the job since December of 2015. He would lead the Penguins to consecutive titles and keep them a playoff contender for the next several years, but the team has failed to earn a playoff berth in each of the last 3 years.
But Sullivan isn't the only Penguins staffer who is leaving today.
Per Insider Seth Rorabaugh, senior data scientist Katerina Wu is departing the organization.
Another staff change with the Penguins: Katerina Wu, previously a senior data scientist with the organization's research and development operations, has left.
She had been with the Penguins since 2021 and had a role in scouting as well as evaluation.

During her time with the organization, she reported to Sam Ventura, Pittsburgh's director of hockey operations and hockey research. She also worked closely with Nick Citrone, the club's senior data scientist of hockey and business operations.
Wu majored in economics and minored in statistics and computer science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 2020.
Before that, she studied data science at Carnegie Mellon University's Sports Analytics Camp while also getting accepted into the Hockey Graphs Mentorship Program.
