Tonight, Pittsburgh Penguins 2025 first-round pick Ben Kindel made history with his first career goal scored against the New York Rangers.
This season, Ben Kindel has appeared out of nowhere and become a key player for the Pittsburgh Penguins at just 18 years old.
In training camp, Kindel shattered expectations and has now played several games with the Penguins and tonight he scored his first career goal on an absolute snipe against Rangers superstar goalie
Igor Shesterkin.
Of course, the goal for Kindel was an incredible personal moment for the youngster but he also made history amongst his peers from the 2025 NHL Draft as well.
Ben Kindel Makes History With His First Career NHL Goal
With his fantastic goal against the Rangers, Kindel became the first player from the 2025 NHL Draft to score a goal etching himself in history.
Kindel was joined shortly after by 1st overall pick
Matthew Schaefer who tallied his first goal in odd fashion against the Capitals.
For Kindel, this is just the beginning of what is now expected to be a long and successful career.
Even after making the opening night roster many expected Kindel to just get the 9 game trial before being loaned back to the WHL.
If he continues to play this well in a crucial role for the Penguins it will make Dan Muse and Kyle Dubas' decision to send him back much more difficult.
