NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that, despite the Penguins' hot start, GM Kyle Dubas is still very committed to the long-term vision he has for the team.

The Pittsburgh Penguins continued their hot streak Monday night by defeating the St. Louis Blues 6-3 at PPG Paints Arena. The Penguins extend their record to 7-2-1 on the year.
Tristan Jarry had another strong game with 26 saves on 29 shots, as Joel Hofer had trouble for St. Louis, letting in five goals on 25 shots.
The Penguins had a blazing start to the game as both Bryan Rust and Anthony Mantha were able to get a goal within the first minute to put them out in front 2-0.
The Blues were able to tie it up with goals from Nick Bjugstad and Jordan Kyrou before falling behind by a Parker Wotherspoon goal in his first game as a Penguin.

It was a milestone night for Sidney Crosby as he hit 1,700 career points

Rust added his second, early in the third, with a milestone assist from Sidney Crosby as he reached 1,700 points in his career, becoming the fourth-fastest player to reach that mark in the NHL.
The Blues closed the gap briefly, but late goals from Crosby and Evgeni Malkin cemented the Penguins' fifth victory in six outings.
Although it may seem that the Penguins' hot start of the season has caught the attention of many hockey insiders and fans, Elliotte Friedman believes that team President and GM Kyle Dubas's eyes remain on the bigger picture.
Re Penguins: "They're doing really well...I think Dubas is really determined to show, we need to keep adding...keep getting younger and younger assets, and I don't think two weeks in the season's gonna change that."

- Elliotte Friedman
Dubas believes that a hot start like this should reinforce that his strategy of enhancing and fostering new young assets on the roster is on the right track.
The Penguins' high level of confidence and depth appear to be making them quite well-rounded and potent as a lineup early on in the season, and it doesn't seem like they're ready to let up anytime soon.
