Per the latest update from NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, the trade drama surrounding Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is weighing on his mind.
There's no denying that the rumours surrounding Sidney Crosby, something that seemed unthinkable as recently as last year, continue to dominate conversations in Pittsburgh Penguins hockey circles.
The Penguins aren't expected to come close to competing for the Stanley Cup, much less a playoff spot, any time soon. They're also stuck in a 3 year playoff drought, which is the longest of Crosby's NHL career.
At 38, Crosby knows that he's not going to play forever and that his time to win another Stanley Cup before he retires is running out.

Last year, Crosby had 91 points (33G, 58A) in 80 games, and also captained Canada at the 4 Nations Faceoff in February.
Crosby's teammate Evgeni Malkin also appeared to hint at a potential trade
Longtime Crosby teammate Evgeni Malkin, who may be entering the final year in the NHL, referenced Brad Marchand's trade from the Boston Bruins to the Florida Panthers last year in recent comments.
Many interpreted his comments as hinting at a potential trade down the road if he also feels that he wants to win another Stanley Cup before he retires from the game.
