Former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton is praising current Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Carter Hutton for his strong play so far this year in Pittsburgh.

Even though the Pittsburgh Penguins were near universally picked by fans and analysts to come nowhere near close to a postseason spot this year, they've impressed with their play.
Through the opening 8 games of the year, the Penguins have earned a 6-2 record, and a big part of it has been because of the goaltending of Tristan Jarry.
Jarry, who is 3-1 with a 2.52 GAA and a shutout, is attracting the attention of former NHL goalie Carter Hutton, who praised his strong play to begin the year.
He is a guy that, I think he gets a bad rap. I know it hasn't been great years, and again I think this is him walking into a team that had Matt Murray who won two Cups for them. A team that had Marc-Andre Fleury, kind of legendary goalie in that status. He's been good. He's played 297 games in the NHL, and he's got a .910 save percentage throughout that run, and this year he's been rock solid for them Now he's in a platoon with Arturs Silovs, which I think just works great for both of these guys. - Carter Hutton

Jarry can add to his win total when he and the Penguins play the Columbus Blue Jackets at home on Saturday.

Tristan Jarry was waived by the Penguins last year but is turning things around

It looked like the NHL career of Jarry could be in doubt last year, as he struggled and was even waived and sent down to the AHL.
After a stint with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Jarry eventually returned to the Penguins and had stronger play, but eventually started struggling again.
After the trade of Alex Nedeljkovic to the San Jose Sharks in the summer, the Penguins acquired Arturs Silovs from the Vancouver Canucks to compete for starting time with Jarry.
Both goalies have performed well for the Penguins so far, and it shows with the team's 6-2 record.
