Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Scott Wilson, who won the Stanley Cup with the club in 2017 over the Nashville Predators, has signed overseas with HC Sibir Novosibirsk in the KHL.
While former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Scott Wilson doesn't exactly stand out in the minds of Penguins fans when they think back to their glory years of consecutive Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017, his name is still engraved on the chalice.
Wilson, who was taken with the 209th overall pick by the Penguins in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and played parts of 4 years with the team, contributed 6 points (3G, 3A) in 20 postseason games in 2017, helping the Penguins
repeat as Stanley Cup champions.
He skated the Stanley Cup on Bridgestone Arena ice after Pittsburgh defeated the Nashville Predators in 6 games.
Now, he's been playing the last handful of years in the KHL and will be continuing his professional career with HC Sibir Novosibirsk.
He's spent the previous pair of years with Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Salavat Yulaev Ufa.
Wilson was traded from the Penguins to the Detroit Red Wings in 2017 for Riley Sheahan, and he played sparingly for Detroit before once again being traded weeks later, this time to the Buffalo Sabres.
He spent the majority of his time with the Sabres playing with their AHL affiliate Rochester Americans, and later also played in the AHL for the Charlotte Checkers.
Wilson has 51 points (20G, 31A) in 193 career NHL games with the Penguins, Red Wings, and Sabres. During his time with the Penguins, he had 32 points (13G, 19A).
Over the last 3 years in the KHL, Wilson has 117 points (62G, 55A) in 188 games.
