Former Pittsburgh Penguins Forward Signs with New Team in Europe
Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Adam Payerl, who was part of the organization for 4 years in the 2010s, has signed with a new European team.
A former member of the Pittsburgh Penguins has signed with a new team overseas.
Forward Adam Payerl, who was signed by the Penguins as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and mostly played for the AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, has signed a new deal with the Krefeld Pinguine in Germany's Deutsche Eishockey Liga 2 (DEL2).
Before joining the Penguins, Payerl had played for the Belleville Bulls and the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League; his top output was 47 points (21G, 25A) in 61 games with the Bulls in 2011-12.
He would only suit up in a pair of games with the Penguins, going pointless. He later played for the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals and the Providence Bruins, the AHL affiliates of the Nashville Predators and Boston Bruins, respectively.
He would then make the leap overseas to Europe, signing with the Augsburger Panther of the DEL. Additionally, he's played for EC Red Bull Salzburg and Düsseldorfer EG.
In 244 career games played in the DEL, Payerl has 147 points (77G, 70A).
The Penguins will have a new coach by June 1
My plan is to have a new head coach in place by June 1. It's not so much about having a coach in place for the NHL Draft (June 27) as it is having a coach in place for our pro scouting meetings in mid-June. That's the thing that's really important.
The Penguins parted ways with Sullivan after 3 straight years without a playoff appearance.
