Kyle Dubas and the Penguins are pushing towards a rebuild, but because of Gary Bettman, reported by Sports Interaction, they're now at a disadvantage compared to six other teams.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are
likely headed towards a rebuild, and while there are plenty of benefits of doing so, there's also some downsides, and with
Sidney Crosby likely to depart in the coming years, landing star level talent in free agency becomes a potential issue.
Now, a post on social media from Sports Interaction has revealed that the Penguins will be at an even bigger disadvantage in landing big time players in free agency moving forward.
The post from SIASport reveals the tax rate of every team in the National Hockey League, with the Toronto Maple Leafs taking first place, with all seven Canadian teams ranking in the top 11 of the list.
Six Teams Given Advantage Over Penguins From New NHL Rules, Including Two Conference Rivals
While the Penguins certainly aren't the team most disadvantaged in the National Hockey League, the post does reveal that there are six teams in the NHL with a lower tax rate than them, with those teams being Tampa Bay, Florida, Nashville, Dallas, Seattle and Vegas.
Ultimately though, Dubas is in a much more enviable spot than he would have been with his former team coming in at No. 1 on the list,
but when Sidney Crosby eventually departs, it's safe to say that this disadvantage could come into play for the Penguins.
