Kyle Dubas Blasts Penguins in Candid Interview as Team Struggles in Key Area

The Pittsburgh Penguins will miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 3rd straight year, and GM Kyle Dubas is blasting the team in a particular area of struggle.
The struggles of the Pittsburgh Penguins continued into this year, resulting in what will be their 3rd straight season of not appearing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
This represents the longest drought of franchise icon Sidney Crosby's career, which began as a rookie in 2005-06.
During a recent interview, Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas explained what he thought was one of the major reasons for their struggles this year - their blue line.
He also referenced newly acquired defenseman Conor Timmins as a potential pairing partner for Erik Karlsson.

Timmins was acquired by Dubas from the Maple Leafs, the club he once oversaw, along with Connor Dewar in exchange for a 2025 5th round Draft pick.
Timins has 7 points (1G, 6A) in 14 games in a Pittsburgh sweater since being acquired from the Maple Leafs. He'll become a restricted free agent when this year comes to a close; his deal carried an AAV (average annual value) of $1.1 million.
It will be a busy offseason for Dubas, and the work is about to get started, considering yet another non-playoff appearance for the Penguins.
