Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas explained the process behind Marc-Andre Fleury's agreement to play 1 last preseason game in a Pittsburgh sweater before officially retiring.

Pittsburgh Penguins fans are going to have a chance to give former goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury a proper sendoff wearing a Penguins sweater one last time.
He's agreed to join the team for one final preseason game, and he'll be in the crease at PPG Paints Arena for when the Penguins play the Columbus Blue Jackets on September 27.
Penguins GM Kyle Dubas, who was the GM for Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Championships that featured both Fleury and former Penguins teammate Sidney Crosby on the roster, explained the process behind Fleury's agreement to play one final game.
There's always the one-day contract thing, but seeing how much fun he had playing at the World Championships and how well he played at the World Championship, as well as conversations with Marc-Andre and Allan Walsh, it just struck me as a good idea for the fan base and for Flower, and we talked about it throughout the summer.

All credit to him, he jumped on board and wants to do it. So I think it'll be a very special night for the fans in Pittsburgh, for the city of Pittsburgh. It's also unique in that there are still a number of players on our team who have played with Flower in Pittsburgh and won championships with him in 2009, 2016, and 2017. So it's just a unique opportunity because he's a unique person, and it should be a very special and exciting night for Marc-Andre and his family, but also for the Penguins and the fans in Pittsburgh.

-Kyle Dubas

The puck drops against the Blue Jackets with Fleury in the crease on September 27 starting at 7 PM EST.

Ticket prices for the game are skyrocketing

It's understandable why ticket prices are soaring for the game, which is now being treated as one of the hottest tickets in town despite being a preseason game with no points up for grabs in the standings.

Per Ticketmaster, the cheapest price for a single seat in the high upper deck of PPG Paints Arena is $175 US, with lower bowl seats going for as much as $487 US.
