Kyle Dubas' future in Pittsburgh has come into question with the speculation of the Penguins sale, but Elliotte Friedman has officially confirmed his fate.
The Pittsburgh Penguins future is up in the air, as there are now
reportedly two parties, one led by Mario Lemieux looking to buy the franchise from current owners, Fenway Sports Group.
That's led to many questions about the future of the organization, including what would happen to the current front office led by Kyle Dubas, and now that has officially been addressed.
Kyle Dubas' job reportedly safe, per Elliotte Friedman
On the latest edition of the
32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman discussed the future of Dubas in Pittsburgh, revealing that even if the team is sold in the near future, it's likely that Dubas will remain in his current role.
"I had some people ask me about Kyle Dubas. I don't think this will affect Dubas at all. I think he's going to stay on in his current roles.
From what I'm hearing, someone asked me, Do you think it'll change the direction of the team? And there's nothing I've heard in the days since this first came out that convinces me that their plan is changing."
This is good news for the Penguins, as Dubas has clearly set the identity of this team for the future as they look to rebuild, and after the moves he's made in recent times, he's clearly seen as the man to lead them forward.
Ultimately though, there's a chance that things could change, but for now, Dubas' job is safe, and even if the Penguins sale begins in the next few months, he's likely to be the GM through until the end of this current rebuild.
