Mario Lemieux sends message to Sidney Crosby after historic milestone
Tonight, Mario Lemieux has sent a special message to Penguins' captain Sidney Crosby after he set the all-time points record.
Sidney Crosby came into tonight's contest looking to make history against the Montreal Canadiens and has now done so.
With a pair of points against the Canadiens, Crosby passed Mario Lemieux for the most points all-time in the history of the Penguins franchise.
The accomplishment was met by a celebration in the arena with the fans going wild for Crosby.
Now, Mario Lemieux has put together a special message for Sid after he broke the record.

After Crosby broke the record, previous record holder and franchise legend Mario Lemieux sent a heartfelt and emotional congratulations to Sid.
Hey Sid, congratulations on passing me with 1,724 points. I knew when we played together in 2005 that you were going to be a very special player and accomplish a lot of great things in your career.
You are now one of the best to ever play the game. You've been a great ambassador for the Pittsburgh Penguins, the National Hockey League and the hockey world. I just would like to wish you all the best the rest of the way. Again, congratulations and well done my friend.

With Crosby breaking the record, he now can set his sites on the NHL's all-time list where he now sits 8th all time and will look to next chase down Detroit Red Wings great Steve Yzerman.
