Last week, Penguins announcer Josh Getzoff collapsed mid-game and was taken to the hospital, but he will thankfully be back to call tonight's game vs. Canucks.

A few days ago, Penguins TV play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff released an update following a terrifying experience last week.
In an X post last week, Getzoff stated he was feeling good after he collapsed between periods while calling Pittsburgh's game against the Anaheim Ducks and was taken to a local hospital for testing.

The collapse happened in between periods while Josh Getzoff was talking to a colleague

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that Getzoff left the broadcast booth for the second intermission Tuesday evening and was chatting with another announcer when he collapsed.
Witnesses indicate he was conscious a short time later, and medical personnel took him to the hospital as a precaution. His unexpected illness resulted in the Penguins' broadcast team making an eleventh-hour switch.
Radio play-by-play announcer Joe Brand jumped to TV to complete the game with Colby Armstrong, and team operations director Jason Seidling filled in for him on the radio with Phil Bourque.
On the positive side, Getzoff is healthy and cleared to return, and he'll be back behind the mic tonight to broadcast the Penguins' game against the Vancouver Canucks.
Getzoff became part of the Penguins' broadcast crew ten years ago and is in his third season as TV play-by-play man for SportsNet Pittsburgh.
Among his highlight announcements was Sidney Crosby's 600th career goal in November, an achievement that solidified Crosby as one of the NHL's all-time greats.
"Honestly, I wouldn't say it's all-encompassing, but it's definitely something that you think about a lot," Getzoff told NHL.com of the call. "You have to always be ready for it. Especially because this is a guy who's on the ice for more than a third of the game. He's always out there when there's a power play, he's always out there if there's an empty net. He's always out there in those kinds of situations."

With Getzoff now back in the broadcast booth, the Penguins' broadcasting crew and their listeners all can breathe a collective sigh of relief as they can finally concentrate on the game on the ice.
