Per a report from NHL analyst Chris Johnston, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Evgeni Malkin will sit down in six weeks to discuss his future and could potentially even agree on a new extension.

Coming into this season, most fans and analysts were of the belief that it would be the last year in the NHL career of longtime Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin, who is one of the best players in franchise history.
He doesn't have a contract beyond 2025 and also isn't getting any younger, now at 39 years old.
But the first two and a half months of the season saw the Penguins get off to a much better start than most would have realistically expected, and Malkin looked much like his old self production-wise.
Per a new report from analyst Chris Johnston, the Penguins and Malkin are scheduled to sit down in six weeks during the Olympic break and discuss his future, and there could even be talk of a potential extension.
So far this year, Malkin has 29 points (8G, 21A) in 26 games played, and he's on pace for 88 points.

Evgeni Malkin Said He Doesn't Want To Play For Any Other Team Besides The Penguins

Malkin has even been linked to other clubs, like the Florida Panthers, who may be without their captain Aleksander Barkov for the entire season because of a torn ACL he suffered during training camp.
But Malkin made it clear that he doesn't want to play in any other NHL sweater besides the Penguins.
I don't see myself in another jersey - not in Florida, not in Colorado, anywhere. I've played my whole life in Pittsburgh. I love the fans, I love the city. I want to finish here. But there are always details. And of course, I want to fight for another Cup. - Evgeni Malkin

Malkin, who has helped the Penguins win three Stanley Cups, won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 2009. He also won the Hart Trophy in 2009.
