NHL Insider Names Five Potential Penguins Who Could Be On the Move at the Deadline
NHL analyst David Pagnotta has listed 5 names that the Pittsburgh Penguins could potentially trade if they're out of the playoff picture at the Trade Deadline in March.
So far this year, the Pittsburgh Penguins have raised more than a few eyebrows with their impressive 6-2 start, especially after they were nearly universally picked by fans and analysts alike to come nowhere near close to getting into the playoffs.
Whether or not the Penguins' hot start is sustainable under new coach Dan Muse remains to be seen. Right now, there's no denying the fact that the postseason drought, which has gone 3 years now, is the longest in the careers of longtime franchise mainstays
Sidney Crosby,
Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang.
Per a report from NHL analyst David Pagnotta, those players along with
Noel Acciari and
Kevin Hayes could all potentially be on the move at the Trade Deadline in March if the Penguins are outside of the playoff picture.
David Pagnotta: Re Penguins: We definitely know that still, the Rakells, the Rusts, the Acciaris, Erik Karlssons...Hayes etc; they're willing to move them, more obviously than the Genos and the Sids - Sekeres & Price (10/23)
The Penguins are off to a fast start this year
The Penguins have won 6 of their opening 8 games of the year after beating the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers 5-3 tonight in Sunrise.
Things appear to be clicking for the Penguins, especially after they weren't picked by many to get back into the postseason.
Can the Penguins keep up their momentum, or is their fast start just a mirage before they inevitably sink back to reality?
