Penguins 1st Rounder Bill Zonnon Reacts to Getting Drafted by the Penguins

Pittsburgh GM Kyle Dubas took forward Bill Zonnon with the 22nd selection in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, and he's looking forward to eventually suiting up for the Penguins.
The Pittsburgh Penguins and GM Kyle Dubas selected forward Bill Zonnan with the 22nd pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, their 2nd selection of Round 1.
Zonnan, who has played the last 2 years with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the QMJHL, can't wait to get started with his new NHL team that he grew up watching.
It was incredible getting drafted by the Penguins. They're a team I grew up watching, especially guys like Sidney Crosby and (Evgeni) Malkin, and just watching them do their thing.
Announcing Pittsburgh's selection was current Penguins defenseman Kris Letang, who has also won 3 Stanley Cups while playing alongside Crosby and Malkin.
Dubas spoke about the excitement that the Penguins organization had when Zonnon was still available for them to select at No. 22, a pick they acquired earlier in the draft from the divisional foe Philadelphia Flyers.
He was excellent at center, plays in all situations, plays against the other team's best players. ... He was really a driver for his team, and that was for us, the most exciting part of him.
His scouting report via Elite Prospects reads as follows:
Constantly supporting teammates in all three zones, Zonnon jumps to the aid of defencemen on the back wall, gets the puck back, offers timely passing options, and moves the puck quickly in transition, orchestrating clever passing plays and entries in the offensive zone. When no play is open, he falls back on his forechecking ability. Defenders retrieving the puck better hurry their play when facing Zonnon. If they take too long to pass, the forward comes barreling down on them, pinning them to the wall, freeing the puck with his stick, and moving to an open teammate.
