Penguins 7th Round Pick Mac Swanson Emerging As a Hidden Gem After Electric Season Debut

The NHL Draft is one of the biggest tools for an NHL team to rapidly improve the outlook of a franchise.

The Penguins in recent years have been incredibly successful in the draft having multiple recent picks make the opening night roster.

With recent top-40 selections Ben Kindel and Harrison Brunicke making the Penguins roster the future is bright in Pittsburgh but now Mac Swanson has separated himself as a standout in the Penguins prospect pool.

As the NCAA kicks off, Penguins prospect Mac Swanson and the University of North Dakota took on the University of Manitoba in preseason action.

Swanson immediately took control in game 1 for the Fighting Hawks putting up a three point night including a goal.

Heading into the season, Swanson was looking to have a breakout Sophomore season after a disappointing first season tallying 18 points in 38 games as a Freshman.

With this incredible start to the year, Swanson is looking to get back to the dynamic offensive threat he was during his time in juniors that led Kyle Dubas and the Penguins front office to believe in him in the first place.

It seems that Swanson is off to a promising start even with the game being against lower competition hopefully, he can use this breakout game to become a key piece for North Dakota the rest of the season.
