Ryan Graves Learns His Fate After Being Placed on Waivers By the Pittsburgh Penguins
This afternoon Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Ryan Graves has learned the fate of his future after being exposed to waivers yesterday.
The most notable name placed on waivers by the Penguins was veteran defenseman Ryan Graves.
After being placed on waivers Penguins head coach Dan Muse defended the shocking decision in an interview after the announcement was made.
Now, just over 24 hours later Graves has learned his fate of where he will continue his career.
Ryan Graves Learns the Fate of His Future With the Penguins
According to multiple reports, Graves along with
Alexander Alexeyev,
Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Boko Imama, and Sam Poulin have all cleared waivers and will be assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
This means Graves and his $4.5 million cap hit will now head to the AHL and the Penguins will need to try and find a trade partner to take on Graves if they want to clear that salary cap space.
Last season, Graves played 61 games and was only able to put up 4 points making him one of the most frustrating players for Penguins fans to watch every night.
Many were hoping Graves would have enough value to be traded for something but now after being unclaimed on waivers the path to unloading him becomes more difficult.
If the Penguins keep Graves he will likely end up being one of the leaders and captains in the AHL that will help develop and bring along several of the promising prospects in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
If the Penguins decide to move Ryan Graves to a new team or make any other moves involving the veteran defenseman we will pass along the latest news.
