Tristan Jarry Shares Emotional Journey He Faced After Being Placed on Waivers Last Season by the Penguins
Tonight, Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry spoke about the mental hurdles he faced after being placed on waivers and his quest for redemption this season.
Last season, the Pittsburgh Penguins underwent one of the most frustrating and difficult seasons in recent franchise history.
One of the biggest issues for the Penguins was goaltending as Tristan Jarry struggled mightily to produce as the team's starter even being placed on waivers at one point.
Now, Jarry has once again reclaimed the starting role ahead of opening night and has spoken about the adversity he faced.

With the new season just around the corner, Jarry spoke in a new interview and was asked to reflect on his turbulent 2024-25 season.
First, Jarry admitted how difficult the demotion was on not only him but his entire family as well.
It was, obviously, a very tough year. From not playing very well at the beginning of the season to going down for a conditioning stint and coming back and not really finding my way, then being put on waivers and going down for some games (with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton), obviously, it was very tough on my family and it was something that we had to manage.
Then, Jarry discussed the pure gratitude he feels toward Kyle Dubas for calling him back up and giving him another fresh start to prove he can be the Penguins starter into the future.
Coming back to Pittsburgh, I was very fortunate. I didn't know if I was going to get another chance to play games in the NHL for Pittsburgh again. Fortunately, I did and I thought I made the most of those last 15, 20 games I played at the end of the year.
While Jarry has earned the trust of Dubas and new head coach Dan Muse he still has a long way to go to earn back the trust of the fans.
As the season kicks off, all of the pressure will be on Jarry to live up to expectations and continue proving he belongs in the NHL over the Penguins younger potentially more promising options.
