Penguins goaltender Arturs Silovs, who is in his first year in a Pittsburgh sweater since being acquired from the Vancouver Canucks, has impressed with his strong start.

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired goaltender Arturs Silovs from the Vancouver Canucks during the summer, and so far, he's paid off for them.
He has a .917 SV%, much better than most would have expected of him. And so far this year, he can adequately say that he's feeling comfortable in his new surroundings and has also credited his teammates.
I feel comfortable. The guys play really well on the penalty kill, they block a lot of shots, they box out. It helps a ton. I think with every game we look better and better,» he said. «We have leaders on this team who know exactly what their role is. They help in tough moments. They bring everyone together when we need it.

As far as his name being mentioned in some early-season awards potential, it's not something Silovs is really concerned with at the moment and would rather keep his focus on the team.
I do not know. Those awards it is not just about me. It depends on the whole team and how we play together. The most important thing is winning every game. I do not think about it too much. I just play my game, and we will see how the season ends.

Arturs Silovs Was Acquired By The Penguins From The Canucks

Silovs was taken with the 156th overall pick by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

He was suddenly thrust into action in the 2024 playoffs because of an injury to starter Thatcher Demko and the struggles of Casey DeSmith.

He performed better than most would have expected of him, and helped bring them to Game 7 of the WCSF, which they lost to the divisional foe Edmonton Oilers.

Silovs helped the Canucks' AHL affiliate Abbotsford Canucks win the Calder Cup earlier this spring.
