Pittsburgh Penguins analyst Josh Yohe of The Athletic has made the heartbreaking announcement that his father has passed away at the age of 68.

A sad announcement has been made by Penguins analyst Josh Yohe, who covers the team for The Athletic.
Yohe announced that his father has passed away at the age of 68 in a lengthy post on X, informing readers of the news.

Remembering the Man Behind a Beloved 1991 Penguins Street Party

Yohe not only wrote the unfortunate news, but then shared a heartwarming story that he'll carry with him of his father forever dating back to the 1991 SCF between the Penguins and the Minnesota North Stars.
As Yohe put it, his father set up several speakers outdoors of the Penguins radio broadcast of Mike Lange and Paul Steiderwald announcing Pittsburgh's Stanley Cup victory, resulting in a block party of Penguins fans.
I lost my dad last night. He was only 68 and it's a very sad thing. But I wanted to share a happy story about him.

On 5/25/91, he was living in Washington Pa. The Pens were playing for their first Cup that night in Minnesota but the cable (not the power, luckily) went out in part of Washington during the game.

He was a deejay and owned an enormous amount of speakers. So he set up the speakers on the street and boomed the Mike Lange/Paul Steigerwald radio broadcast, and it started a street party of Pens fans, who were unable to watch the game, listening to them winning the Cup for the first time.

He didn't always get the breaks he wanted out of life, but he made the most out of what he had and wanted nothing more than to make people happy. I think this story illustrates his spirit best.

How Josh Yohe's Father Inspired Joy During Pittsburgh's First Stanley Cup Victory

Yohe's story of his father is a great way that he'll forever be connected with him over their love of the Penguins.
It will be a special memory that helped to not only forge Yohe's interest in Pittsburgh hockey, but a standing reminder of how his father helped bring a community together in celebration with a simple act.
