Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell appear on the way out of Pittsburgh, but now there's been warnings for Kyle Dubas not to rush into moving the Penguins veterans.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have been rather surprising this off-season thus far, as many believed they'd be quick to move some of their key veterans, but as of now, all they've done is add a few small names in trades and free agency.
However, top Penguins Insider Josh Yohe has warned caution for Kyle Dubas on the latter two, noting that the team should not rush into anything with either of them, harking back to the 2025 deadline when the offers especially for Rakell were rather underwhelming.
"Dubas shouldn't rush into a Rust or Rakell trade. A lot of fans were upset when Dubas didn't unload Rakell in a seller's market at last season's trade deadline. However, the offers for Rakell were not nearly as enticing as assumed. So, Dubas decided to stand pat, which was probably the right decision."
So far, the Penguins have also shown hesitation to move on from Rust unless they're blown away by an offer, and with all that in mind, there's a very, very good chance that Dubas holds onto both of them into the season, with teams getting more desperate as buyers at the deadline.
Ultimately, the expectation around the Penguins this summer was that they were going to be very busy with plenty of trades to be had, and while those aren't yet here, we could see things get busy ahead of training camp, even if Dubas doesn't rush into moving his two veteran wingers.
