Could the Pittsburgh Penguins be a possibility for Robby Fabbri, who remains an unrestricted free agent after playing last year with the Anaheim Ducks?
One player who has demonstrated a scoring touch throughout his NHL career and yet remains an unsigned UFA is Robby Fabbri, who played last year with the Anaheim Ducks.
Fabbri, who has endured numerous leg injuries in his career, had 16 points (8G, 8A) in 44 games.
Why Robby Fabbri Could Be a Risky but Intriguing Option for Pittsburgh
Fabbri would represent a chance to add depth scoring to the Penguins' bottom 6 by general manager Kyle Dubas - if he could stay healthy, that is.
Fabbri has suffered a torn ACL more than once in his career, and missed nearly half of his 1st and only season with the Ducks after yet another knee injury, this time with his meniscus.
He had previously played the last several years with the Detroit Red Wings, who acquired him in 2019. In his last year in Detroit, he reached a new career-best 18 goals.
He wouldn't be an expensive contract, and would likely have to accept close to league minimum on a prove-it style contract, or may even have to settle for a professional tryout agreement (PTO).
One of the most important abilities for a professional athlete in any sport is availability, and Fabbri has more often than not been unavailable for long stretches of time because of multiple injuries.
He has 216 points (106G, 110A) in 416 career games with the Blues, Red Wings and Ducks.
