The Pittsburgh Penguins have been named as a potential candidate to land goaltender Arturs Silovs from the Vancouver Canucks if they decide to move him.

Part of the reason why the Pittsburgh Penguins missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the third straight year was their subpar goaltending.
Both Tristan Jarry and Alex Nedeljkovic struggled, while rookie Joel Blomqvist was inconsistent. Jarry would even be waived by the Penguins and sent to the AHL after none of the 31 other NHL clubs claimed him.
As GM Kyle Dubas works to get the Penguins through their current rebuild, could they pick up a young asset from the Vancouver Canucks?
Via Rob Couch of NHL Trade Rumors, the Penguins are one of a handful of potential landing spots for Silovs if they decide to move him.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are getting much younger and are about to enter into a rebuild. They will need at least one more goalie option if they want to come out of it anytime soon. Jesper Blomqvist is a potential option, while Tristan Jarry and Alex Nedeljkovic don't appear to be, but Silovs could also be an answer. It would give him a few more years to establish himself than what he would have in Edmonton or Carolina and GM Kyle Dubas has done well bringing in young talent thus far.

Silovs has a year left on his current contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $850,000. He emerged as an unsung hero for the Canucks in the 2024 postseason after an injury to starter Thatcher Demko and the struggles of now-former backup Casey DeSmith.
He also recently helped the AHL affiliate Abbotsford Canucks win the Calder Cup.
In his limited time in the NHL, Silovs has gone 8-8-2 with a 3.13 GAA and .880 SV%.
