Even though their year has come to a close, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have assigned a pair of prospects back down to the East Coast Hockey League.
The year has come to a close for the Pittsburgh Penguins, who failed to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 3rd straight year.
Unfortunately, it's the longest drought of captain and future Hall of Famer
Sidney Crosby's career.
But there's still
work to be done with regard to the careers of future members of the club still getting their feet wet at the professional career and who hope to eventually break into the NHL.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the AHL affiliate for Pittsburgh, have re-assigned forwards Jack Beck and Mathieu De St. Phalle to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.
Beck had played in 36 games with Wheeling this year, amassing 36 points (8G, 28A) in 36 games; he was also ranked 2nd overall on the team in one particular stat in special teams, racking up 10 assists on the power play.
He also had 3 points (1G, 2A) with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Meanwhile, De St. Phalle had 55 (20G, 35A) points in 62 games with Wheeling; his 20 goals were 2nd overall among all players on the team.
He has 2 goals in 14 games with the AHL's Penguins.
Meanwhile, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins begin their quest for the Calder Cup and are matched up against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
The minor-league Penguins are commonly referred to by fans and media as the "Baby Penguins".
