Penguins Make Shocking Roster Move Ahead of Season Finale
Ahead of their last game of the year against the divisional foe Washington Capitals, the Penguins have announced an emergency roster move.
Only
one game is left for the Pittsburgh Penguins before they break for the summer, as they host Alex Ovechkin and the divisional foe Washington Capitals at PPG Paints Arena tonight.
But ahead of the game, the Penguins have announced an emergency roster move. They've re-called forward Sam Poulin from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins:
The move comes amidst an ongoing injury to 1st year Penguins forward
Kevin Hayes, who hasn't been able to practice the last two days and also was unavailable for this morning's optional morning skate.
Poulin, who is in the 1st year of a 2-year contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $775K, has 43 points (19G, 24A) in 56 games.
Poulin was Pittsburgh's 1st round selection with the 19th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and has played most of this year in the AHL.
He did pick up 6 games of NHL experience in October, registering an assist; he has 12 total games of NHL experience under his belt.
After signing his 2-year deal last summer,
Poulin indicated that he's feeling much better physically after missing time last year with an injury.
I feel good. I missed a couple weeks with injury during the year, but that time out allowed me to focus on areas of the game I still need to work on. Then every time I'm in the lineup, however many minutes I get, I try and make the most of it.
Last year with the AHL Penguins, Poulin had 31 points (16G, 15A) in 41 games.
