Conor Timmins made a solid impact upon arrival in Pittsburgh, and after some impressive performances, Kyle Dubas wants to keep him in the lineup.
While the Pittsburgh Penguins couldn't string together much success in the 2024/25 season, they've seen some very solid individual performances while also adding plenty of talent at the 2025 trade deadline.
One of the most intriguing moves at the deadline from General Manager Kyle Dubas was the move to land both
Connor Dewar and Conor Timmins from his former team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Dewar has been fantastic in an increased role since arriving, with his four goals and six points in 14 games played since arriving likely cementing a spot in the lineup for the 25-year old moving forward.
However, despite some solid play, the future was a little more murky for Timmins, whose production has taken a major leap in 14 games with the team, as he has tallied a solid 7 points and a +4 differential in that time.
Now, Dubas has all but confirmed Timmins will be a piece on this Penguins blue line moving forward, as he stated in a recent interview that he'll almost certainly be sticking around moving forward.
"I think we certainly will [keep him].
I just think with that way he played, we got lucky at the deadline that a lot of the moves happened in quick succession at the end [just before the deadline].»
It appears as though fans support the move too, as there has been plenty of praise sent the way of the 26-year old who has the ability to be a stable piece of this Penguins lineup for years to come.
Ultimately, we may be seeing plenty of changes on the Penguins blue line in the summer with the expectation that they'll be trying to move
Erik Karlsson, and with few other names stepping up to cement their place in the lineup, don't be shocked to see Timmins earn a full-time role with the team moving forward.
