Pittsburgh Penguins Forward Rickard Rakell Cements Major Milestone

The Pittsburgh Penguins had another disappointing season this year so many fans will be relived when the final three games tick off of their schedule.

But while the team is dissapointing as a whole, there are still many things for their fans to enjoy and look forward to.

For example, Sidney Crosby continues to set more records.

Even at the age of 37, Sid the Kid remains one of the top players in the league as he leads the team in scoring with 31 goals and a fitting 87 points so far.

But Crosby is not the only Penguin hitting new career milestones this season.

The captain's teammate of four years Rickard Rakell has also had a very productive season.

The 31-year-old has matched his career high in goals with 31 and is just one point back from tying his career high of 69 points.

Furthermore, today's contest against the New Jersey Devils was his 800th career regular-season appearance.

The Swedish forward is up to 235 career goals and 517 points, most of which came with the Anaheim Ducks, who drafted him 30th overall all the way back in 2011.

Rakell was one name that was floated around a lot as the trade deadline approached this year, but Kyle Dubas elected to hold onto him.

He is signed with the Penguins for three more seasons after this one, and his current deal may very well be the last of his career.

As such, it will be interesting to see whether or not he remains with the club to finish out the contract, or if he will end up getting traded after all as the Penguins continue to navigate a rebuild.
