Sidney Crosby Smashes New Milestone Surpassing Bobby Hull on All-Time NHL List

The Pittsburgh Penguins may have already been officially eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoff contention, but that doesn't mean they're going to throw in the towel on competition in the few games they have left.

They rebounded from an early 0-2 deficit in Friday's game against the playoff-bound New Jersey Devils, winning 4-2.

In vintage fashion, Penguins captain Sidney Crosby added to his already first-ballot Hall of Fame resume, scoring the game-winning goal in the 3rd period by deflecting home a shot-pass from teammate Bryan Rust past goaltender Jake Allen.

His game-winner was the 99th of his career and moved him past the legendary late Bobby Hull and Guy Lafleur (both of whom had 98 during their own respective iconic careers) for the 10th most in NHL history.

Crosby's longtime teammate and fellow Penguins franchise icon Evgeni Malkin also scored during the game, and in doing so, the legendary Pittsburgh duo have now scored in the same contest for the 128th time; the club's all time record when that happens now stands at 112-10-6.

Pittsburgh's 3rd straight year out of the playoffs is now the longest drought of Crosby's career, which began as a fresh-faced rookie in 2005-6.

Together with Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, who also debuted that same year, they became the new faces of the NHL that was struggling to repair its image following the infamous year-long work stoppage that wiped out all of 2004-05.
