The Penguins unexpectedly called up Sergei Murashov yesterday after dealing with many injuries, and the phenom goalie spoke out about it all.

Just days ago, Sergei Murashov was resting after a routine practice. Then came the phone call that changed everything.
The 21-year-old goaltender was being promoted from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to the Pittsburgh Penguins, suddenly one step away from his NHL debut.
"You're working. You're just doing your thing. After practice you just lay on your bed and get a call. Grateful to be here."

With Tristan Jarry out injured, Murashov could see his first action as soon as Thursday against Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. The call-up comes on the heels of an impressive start to the AHL season from Murashov.
The 2022 fourth-round pick was the AHL Goaltender of the Month for October, going 5-2-0 with a 1.73 goals-against average, a .931 save percentage, and one shutout.
His early performance has earned rave reviews throughout the organization, with many regarding him as a potential long-term solution in goal for the Penguins.

Dan Muse has not revealed yet when exactly Sergei Murashov will get his first start in goal

With Jarry now out and Arturs Silovs also an option, head coach Dan Muse and the Penguins' staff have not yet said how they will utilize their young netminder, as the staff is still determining its course of action.
For now, Murashov continues to work on preparing, finding consistency, and staying ready for when his time does come around.
"It's all about what's going on now and staying in the moment," Murashov said. "No rush. We'll go moment by moment, step by step."

"Right now I just have time to prepare for it. I'm doing everything I can do right now. When that day will come, we'll see," he said. "It's definitely something you dream about from your childhood. But again, no rush. Just stay in the moment."

Murashov has already shown he is composed and process-driven, focused on the growth and confidence he's taken from his work rather than any statistics. That approach has defined his rapid rise within the organization.
As the Penguins make their way through this stretch of games without their starter, Murashov's readiness might soon be put to the test under the NHL spotlight.
Whether his debut is this week or a little later, one thing is certain: The young Russian has earned his moment, and the Penguins may soon see the future of their crease in action.
