It appears that Penguins forward prospect Filip Hallander will be leaving his team in the Swedish Hockey League, and Pittsburgh would like to re-sign him.

Pittsburgh Penguins' former second-round selection (No. 58 overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft, Filip Hallander, is looking to make his return to North America after a standout campaign in the Swedish Hockey League.
According to a release issued by Timra IK, Hallander is departing the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) club following his breakout season in which he scored 26 goals and had 53 points in just 51 games.
Players leaving the club after the 2024/25 season:

It is now clear which players will leave Timrå IK after the 2024/25 season. The entire association would like to extend a big thank you for your achievements and wish you all the best in your future careers.

#29 Filip Haalander

#92 Anton Lundmark

#55 Miika Koivisto

#37 Kristian Näkyvä

#26 Emil Melander

#27 Oliver Johansson

#63 Elmeri Eronen
Both his scoring production, as well as overall development, have seemingly revived interest in him in the minds of the Penguins brass and Kyle Dubas, who are said to be weighing his return.
Hallander leaving Timra IK is just part of the Penguins' overall effort at bringing youth into their roster, particularly in an effort to remain competitive in the future.
Adding in an offense-focused forward like Hallander with the upcoming 2025-26 season in mind would be an excellent addition of depth scoring for the Penguins.
With the franchise poised for its critical juncture, the growth of promising assets such as Hallander, combined with other signing possibilities, gives hope for the future in Pittsburgh again.
