While it's been an up and down past few days for fans of the Pittsburgh Penguins, young forward Philip Tomasino has some positive words regarding the team's future

The young forward, who was acquired from Nashville last season, is ready to embrace his current opportunity and return a winning culture to Pittsburgh.

Tomasino Making the Most of His Chance in Pittsburgh

Coming into the Penguin's training camp ahead of of the NHL preseason, Tomasino was one of the more under-the-radar guys for Pittsburgh. While the young forward saw some flashes of extended ice time last season, the fight for a role in Pittsburgh's top six has become more crowded than ever.
Tomasino, however, doesn't seem to be phased.
"There is competition. But, regardless of wherever you are, there's competition everywhere. It's the best thing in the world. So, for me, I'm not focused on anyone else."

"Right now, I'm just focused on what I can do every day to be the best version of myself and just go out there and compete as hard as I can because I know I can play, and I know I can help this team win from the start of the year to the end. It's always good to have competition, but I'm just focused on everything I can do to push myself to reach that next step for me." - Philip Tomasino

For Tomasino, beating out the competition simply isn't enough. The young forward is determined to become a full-time resident in Pittsburgh's top-six.
"I feel like I'm ready to take that next step in my game, and I'm really looking forward to this year."

Tomasino Determined to Get Pittsburgh Back to the Postseason
Having missed the playoffs the past three seasons, and with many analysts predicting a bottom-feeder finish for the Pens this season, many have written off this season for Pittsburgh before it's even begun.
Not Tomasino.
"Overall, I'm just really happy with how the process played out. It's another opportunity for me to prove myself to everyone here. I'm just really grateful for this opportunity, and I'm definitely going to try to make the most out of it."

"There's no other place I'd rather be."

This optimistic attitude and determined work ethic could be just what the Penguins need to get themselves back in the mix.
