Pittsburgh Penguins Coaching Hunt Runs Into Unexpected Trouble

The Pittsburgh Penguins are looking to replace Mike Sullivan as Head Coach, but thus far, the search has been slower than expected for one major reason.
After 10 long years, the Pittsburgh Penguins moved on from Mike Sullivan this off-season, and already the two-time Stanley Cup winner has found a new role with the New York Rangers, becoming one of the highest paid coaches in league history.
Now, the team are looking for his replacement, but given the sticky situation with
Sidney Crosby and the current construction of their roster, they'll have to do a good job to sell this team to a new coach that can lead them forward.
In his latest update, Penguins Insider Josh Yohe has revealed why things have been going slower than expected for Pittsburgh, noting that Dubas is in Sweden for the IIHF World Championship, and he wants to meet potential coaches in person.
«Here's what I'm hearing about the search so far:
There are a few reasons for the expected slower pace here.
Logistically speaking, Dubas wants to meet with candidates in person if possible. That's difficult when you're in Stockholm. Expect Dubas to meet with potential coaches before and after Worlds. It wouldn't surprise me if this search takes as long as a month»
With five other teams (Boston, Seattle, Anaheim, Philadelphia and Vancouver) all looking for a new Head Coach, this latest update reveals why things have been moving slow for Pittsburgh, and perhaps the same can be said for the other teams.
Names like Rick Tocchet, Joel Quenneville and David Carle have been thrown out there as possibilities for Pittsburgh as well as many of those other teams, but for now, the Penguins are falling behind in the search for a new coach.
This could potentially harm them when it comes to getting their first choice coach, but with many talents out there likely wanting to work with Sidney Crosby, don't expect them to have to settle for whoever is available this off-season, they'll have a fantastic choice of their own to make.
