Pittsburgh Penguins Land Talented Goaltender In The Third Round

This past season, the Pittsburgh Penguins had a major issue with goaltending, so unsurprisingly, it's a position that they wanted to address when the 2025 NHL Draft came rolling around.

The team already have two talented goaltenders in Joel Blomqvist and Sergei Murashov waiting in the wings, but on Saturday, they were quick to land another talented goaltender with pick No. 84.

With that pick, they landed 18-year old Gabriel D'Aigle of the Victoriaville Tigers in the QMJHL, landing another talent that could become a genuine piece for them in future years.

With great size, D'Aigle projects as a long-term backup goaltender for the Penguins, but with the team using a third-round pick on him, it's clear that they have very high hopes for his future.

This past season, the 6-foot-4 goaltender posted a save percentage of .883 and a GAA of 4.52 in 55 games played, so while those numbers aren't that pretty, he's clearly got the size that this team covets with the belief that they can develop him into a great prospect.

With neither Tristan Jarry or Alex Nedeljkovic representing the future in net for Pittsburgh, it was clear that they needed to land a piece of the future, and now, D'Aigle joins a very talented group of goaltenders in the organization.

He's not likely to take a leap to the NHL or even the AHL anytime soon, as he's likely to wait in the QMJHL and develop his skills and produce more on the ice, but for now, he's definitely a name to watch moving forward.
