Penguins captain and future Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby is revealing where he'd like to play the remainder of his career, amidst rumors that he could be moved from Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Penguins captain and future Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby signaled that he wanted to remain with the only club that he's ever played for, recently agreeing to a 2-year contract extension.
The extension comes at a considerable discount with his traditional AAV (average annual value) of $8.7 million, a nod to his sweater number and far less than what he could be earning elsewhere.
In recent days, Crosby's name has come up in trade discussions, with former NHL forward Georges Laraque sparking speculation that a trade of Crosby could be imminent.
Not only this, but NHL analyst Kevin Weekes sparked a flurry of speculation with a cryptic post on X of the Denver skyline. The Colorado Avalanche play in Denver, and they're led by Nathan MacKinnon, a close friend of Crosby's.
For right now, it looks like Crosby will remain with the Penguins for at least another year for what could be teammate Evgeni Malkin's last season in the NHL.
Per Frank Seravalli, Crosby is likely to play out 2025-26 in Pittsburgh and then potentially re-evaluate his options.

While it would be a shock for most fans to see Crosby wear another sweater, he could choose to try and chase the Stanley Cup one last time in his career, as the Penguins are nowhere close to realistically competing for it any time soon.
