The biggest surprise among the group that was waived is veteran forward Danton Heinen, who was re-acquired by the Penguins as part of the deal that sent defenseman
Marcus Pettersson to the Vancouver Canuncks last season.
The journeyman forward is on his second stint with the Penguins' organization, and in his entire time with Pittsburgh, he has registered 29 goals and 66 points in 169 games. His future with the organization is once again in doubt.
With camp winding down, the Penguins' roster is now down to 39 players. As the days go by, the team is inching closer and closer to what the final roster will look like on opening night.
