Pittsburgh Penguins Place Swedish Forward on Waivers, per Elliotte Friedman

The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed 250-game forward Emil Bemstrom on waivers today, as Kyle Dubas continues to make changes to his team's roster.
While the team hasn't given up yet because they have been playing better lately than many of the teams in front of them in the standings, their roster is pretty full and competitive, and the Penguins are going to test some of their younger players out.
Bemstrom's production was very low this season
Bemstrom has only played in 13 games this season and has recorded just one assist.
He played three games in a row after being a healthy scratch for three consecutive games, but only recorded one shot, one hit, and one block in those games, which just wasn't good enough for him to remain with the big club.
The 25-year-old didn't even play a combined 20 minutes in those games, yet another concerning stat.
Bemstrom hasn't shown he can really make an impact for the Penguins this season. He is in the last year of his deal and is a free agent this summer.
Based on this recent waiver move, it would be highly unlikely that the Penguins extend him a contract offer in the offseason.
