A longtime forward with Pittsburgh Penguins, veteran Bryan Rust is sharing a special story about Sidney Crosby that he says was huge for his career early on.
The Pittsburgh Penguins remain mathematically alive in the postseason chase, but they are quickly running out of runway to make something happen.
They've re-called young prospects Rutger McGroarty and Ville Koivunen from the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, hoping to help infuse the next generation of youth into the lineup.
There was once a time when veteran Bryan Rust was a fresh-faced rookie, and he spoke recently about how he was treated by team captain Sidney Crosby and how it helped his career at a young age.
You always pay attention. Obviously, the prospects with the 'more pedigree' can be a little bit more interesting. But I remember once up on a time, I wasn't one of those guys - and I think Sid treated me just the same.

As far as McGroarty and Koivunen are concerned, Rust is looking forward to seeing what they can contribute.
Anytime we get some young guys up here, especially ones who have been doing so well and who are kinda fresh to the organization, it's fun. Fun to see what they've got. You could tell both of them are really, really good players. I'm excited to see what they can do.
Considering his veteran status, don't be surprised to see Rust to have a similar effect on them as Crosby did on him earlier in hiss own career.
