The Pittsburgh Penguins are said to be in talks to re-sign a Swedish forward currently playing overseas and who was a 2018 Draft selection of the club.

It looks as though the Pittsburgh Penguins could be bringing back an old friend into the fold.
Former draft pick Filip Hallander, who was taken in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and has a pair of games of NHL experience under his belt, could soon be back on his way to the Penguins after playing the last several years overseas.
Per a release from Timra IK in the Swedish Hockey League, Penguins forward prospect Filip Hallander is leaving that club.

Penguins management has expressed interest in re-signing Hallander, who was a second-round pick (No. 58 overall) in 2018.

From the official Timra IK website:
(Translated: It is now clear which players will leave Timrå IK after the 2024/25 season. The entire association would like to extend a big thank you for your achievements and wish you all the best in your future careers.

His scouting report via Elite Prospects reads as follows:
Two-way forward and a capable skater. Works hard and forechecks and backchecks impressively. Shoots and passes the puck equally well. Smart in all three zones and a good team player.

During his 2 years with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, he scored a total of 61 points (25G, 35A) before returning back to the Swedish Hockey League.
Don't be surprised to see him back in the fold with the Penguins next year, who will be undergoing under year of their rebuilding process under general manager Kyle Dubas as he tries to maximize the time that Hall of Famers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin have left in their NHL careers.
