Sidney Crosby's Future in Question as 3-Team Shortlist Emerges

What the future holds for Pittsburgh Penguins captain and future Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby remains anybody's guess, as he is still signed for another 2 years while knowing full well that the team has almost no realistic chance at competing for a postseason spot, much less the Stanley Cup.

The prevailing thought among many is that Crosby will play at least another year with the Penguins in what is believed to be fellow Penguins franchise icon Evgeni Malkin's final year in the League, and then could choose to seek other options.

Per NHL analyst Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff, there are at least 3 teams that could be connected to Crosby, and he lists them as the Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche, and Montreal Canadiens.

Crosby's good friend and fellow Nova Scotia native Nathan MacKinnon plays for the Avalanche, and it has been suggested that Crosby could want to play alongside him in the NHL and chase another Stanley Cup before he retires.

The Canadiens are the team Crosby grew up cheering for, and who he still holds in high regard.

The Kings, after failing to acquire Mitch Marner, would love to swing for the fences and acquire a player like Crosby to put them over the hump.
