Sidney Crosby Makes Feelings Known on Ovechkin's Goal-Scoring Legacy

Having both been in the NHL since 2005, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby reflects on the goal scoring legacy of Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin after he tied Wayne Gretzky.
Wayne Gretzky is no longer has sole possession of the title of best goal scorer in National Hockey League history.
Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is now in a 1st-place tie with Gretzky, scoring his 894th career goal in Friday night's win over the Chicago Blackhawks at Capital One Arena.
Longtime on-ice rival Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, who has tremendous mutual respect for Ovechkin, reflected on the Washington captain's goal scoring legacy shortly after he tied Gretzky while acknowledging it was exciting as a fan of the game.
It was pretty exciting. Just that last couple of minutes, when he kept pushing, trying to get that next one. For anyone who is a fan of the game and appreciates what he's doing, it's pretty cool to see. I thought he was going to get it last night. What he's done this year is pretty incredible. Matter of time.
Crosby himself continues to enjoy a Hall of Fame career, having captained the Penguins to 3 different Stanley Cup championships; he's also in 9th place all-time in NHL scoring with 1,678 points.
He and Ovechkin have battled one another many times in the postseason; Crosby came out on top the first several occasions, while Ovechkin and the Capitals finally won in 2018 en route to the franchise's 1st championship.
Both players are assured a spot enshrined into the Hockey Hall of Fame when their respective careers end.
