Sidney Crosby Makes His Decision Clear on World Championship Participation

While the Pittsburgh Penguins had a relatively disappointing 2024/25 campaign, Sidney Crosby was once again brilliantly to the surprise of no one, and even at age 37, he's showing why he's considered one of the greatest of all time.

That success extends to the international stage as well, and now, the long-time captain of Team Canada has officially rejoined the team ahead of the 2025 IIHF World Championships in Sweden and Denmark.

Shortly after that report, Hockey Canada made the announcement official, as Crosby will be joining a young team with the likes of Macklin Celebrini, Porter Martone and Zayne Parekh, all of whom played in their pre-tournament friendly against Austria.

While this isn't going to be as high profile as the Four Nations, the inclusions of Crosby and some other big veteran names shows just how much this means to Canada, and between now and the tournament beginning, we could see some more intriguing names join the team.

Not only that, but the recently eliminated Nathan MacKinnon, who has the Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia connection with Crosby will be joining the team as well, giving an already talented Hockey Canada lineup two of the biggest stars that the sport has ever seen.

After disappointing ends to both of their seasons, it's highly likely that they'll be motivated, and with the team getting a look at some new names ahead of the 2026 Olympic Games, this should be a fun tournament to watch.

Now, the tournament for Canadian fans becomes must-see with the inclusion of 87 and 29, and with so much talent all over the ice, Team Canada will be eyeing yet another gold medal on the international stage.
