Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby talked about the passing of former Penguin Lowell MacDonald, who was also from Nova Scotia.

The extended family of the Pittsburgh Penguins suffered a loss recently with the passing of Lowell MacDonald, who won the Bill Masterton Trophy during his career and was also a part of the famous «Century Line» with fellow players Syl Apps and Jean Pronovost during the 1970s.
Current Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, who is also from Nova Scotia as MacDonald was, recently talked about the sense of pride that players like himself and others from the area have thanks to MacDonald.
It's a real sense of pride. With Nova Scotia, there wasn't a ton of players that came out of there. You knew the history, you knew who those guys were, you looked up to those guys. So, the fact that there was a Pittsburgh connection there was, obviously, pretty special.

Just a great man. A proud Nova Scotian as well. You always appreciate the guys that you looked up to and kind of paved the way. And he's definitely one of them. - Sidney Crosby

The first Penguins player to win a major award, he spent the bulk of his NHL career in a Penguins sweater. He played in 506 career games and had 390 points (180G, 210A).
