Sidney Crosby sets a new NHL record with overtime goal against the Blue Jackets
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby became the first player in NHL history to reach 50 career overtime points thanks to his OT GWG today against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.
There really isn't anything that Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby can't do, which includes scoring OT game winning goals.
Crosby continued his hot streak and helped the Penguins win their fifth game in a row with his overtime goal today against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.
With the goal, Crosby became the first player in NHL history to reach at least 50 points scored in overtime.
Crosby assisted on Rickard Rakell's game tying goal with 16 seconds left in the game, and then went on to score the OT GWG.
The Penguins were also down 4-1 in the opening minute of the second period, but wound up scoring the next five unanswered to stun the Blue Jackets in their rink.
In his return to Columbus, ex-Blue Jackets forward Yegor Chinakhov had an assist in his first game since being traded to the Penguins late last month.
The Pittsburgh Penguins Have Now Won Five Games In A Row
The Penguins, who endured a brutal December which included six straight losses on home ice, have now won five games in a row.
Against the Blue Jackets, the Penguins scratched Rutger McGroarty, Connor Clifton and Kevin Hayes.
Arturs Silovs got the win in goal for the Penguins, who started Stuart Skinner in yesterday's win over the Red Wings in Detroit.
Is this the year the Penguins head back to the playoffs after a three year absence, the longest drought in the career of Crosby?
