Yegor Chinakhov opens up about facing his former team less than a week after being traded by Columbus
Former Columbus Blue Jackets forward Yegor Chinakhov will play against his old team today for the first time since being traded to the divisional foe Pittsburgh Penguins, and he's opening up about the impending game.
Yesterday, new Pittsburgh Penguins forward Yegor Chinakhov scored his first goal in a Penguins sweater in a 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings, and now he will get the chance to get some revenge on his old team.
Chinakhov was traded late last month from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Danton Heinen, a second round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft and a third round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft.
He'll return to Nationwide Arena in Columbus today, which he admitted was going to be an emotional experience.

Chinakhov is keeping his mindset strictly on business as he gets ready to play against his old NHL team.
Yegor Chinakov Was Acquired By The Penguins Late Last Month
Chinakhov was taken with the 21st overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets, but he would mostly split his time between the Blue Jackets and the Cleveland Monsters, their AHL affiliate.
His best output in a Blue Jackets sweater was in 2023-24 when he had 29 points (16G, 13A) in 56 games.
So far this year, he has seven points (4G, 3A) in 31 games played split between the Blue Jackets and Penguins.
