To nobody's surprise, Pittsburgh Penguins captain and future Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby was included in the latest NHL ranking of the top forwards in the game.
Even though the Pittsburgh Penguins have missed the postseason in each of the last 3 years, which is the longest drought in the career of both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, Crosby is still appropriately praised.
Crosby, despite being 38, still had 91 points (33G, 58A) in 80 games this year.
Getting to see him play with Malkin, in what will likely be his last year in the NHL, will be one of the main draws for Penguins fans in 2025-26.
Crosby is likely going to have a major decision ahead of him in the next year on whether he wants to continue the final years of his NHL career on a team with zero chance to win the Stanley Cup and almost no realistic chance of the postseason.
Kyle Dubas has no current plans to trade Sidney Crosby
During a recent appearance on the Cam & Strick Podcast, didn't make it sound like a potential deal for Crosby was on his mind.
It was very clear that everything he does is relentlessly focused on getting the best out of the Pittsburgh Penguins and out of himself. Every single thing he is focused on is winning.
Crosby was the 1st overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, which was popularly referred to as the "Crosby Sweepstakes". His selection by Pittsburgh helped singlehandedly change the direction of the franchise and later resulted in 3 Stanley Cup wins.
