Top 5 Potential Landing Spots Emerge for Penguins' Sidney Crosby, per NHL Analyst

NHL analyst John Matisz has revealed five top teams that would make the most sense to land Sidney Crosby if the Penguins were to ever consider a trade.
It started when his agent, Pat Brisson, indicated a late-career trade is "always a possibility." Crosby subsequently asserted that Pittsburgh is "where I want to be."
However, there are questions of what if the rebuilding Penguins fall out of playoff contention by December.
At 38 years of age and under contract until 2026-27, Crosby wields the power with a no-movement clause. His status as a generational star and admired leader provides him the autonomy to make that choice on his own terms.
For almost two decades, the hockey world has envisioned him as a one-team icon, yet even legends reach junctions.
History has proven that change is never out of the question. Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, and other all-time legends shocked the sports world by changing teams and winning championships.
For Crosby, the greatest incentive to depart Pittsburgh would be a fourth Stanley Cup. Any consideration would also involve reputation, history, and fit, which reduces realistic destinations.
The Colorado Avalanche Have Been Rumored to Have a Heavy Interest in Sidney Crosby for Several Months
The Colorado Avalanche have the best shot, per Matisz, as they are true Stanley Cup contenders. Getting the Cole Harbour product playing alongside good friend
Nathan MacKinnon would be icing on the cake.
The Montreal Canadiens are second, as they are in an accelerated rebuild, and an Original Six team, with an exciting up-and-coming core. Crosby also grew up cheering for the Habs.
The Edmonton Oilers offer the temptation of sharing the ice with
Connor McDavid and
Leon Draisaitl, something that could be of heavy interest to Crosby.
The Florida Panthers are a model franchise currently in dynasty mode, providing a chance at another Cup to Crosby.
And lastly, the Vegas Golden Knights love to make splashy signings and be a part of nearly every star acquisition, and it doesn't hurt that they are true contenders year after year.
While Crosby insists on staying loyal to Pittsburgh, there will always be room for one more chapter somewhere else. If the final chapter involves making history, then the door cannot be shut as yet.
