Young Penguins Goalie Prospect Rewrites History with New Franchise Record

Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender prospect Sergei Murashov set a new franchise record in the American Hockey League.
When Ron Hextall left the Penguins the team was in poor shape. But one of his last moves as general manager of the club is now paying dividends.
That would be goaltender prospect Sergei Murashov, who was selected by the team in the 4th round of the 2022 draft.
Murashov has a long track record of putting up great numbers in Russia, but this year is his first in North America. So how has the transition been for him?
In fact, Murashov is now on a historic run for the team. With his 10th win in a row today, he set a new record for longest winning streak by a rookie goaltender in Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins history.
Murashov has a 2.58 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage in 11 games to go along with his perfect 10-0-0 record.
If he keeps this up, the 20-year-old could be in the NHL before we know it as the Penguins have not exactly had the best goaltending in recent seasons.
Murashov could very well replace
Tristan Jarry as the team's starter potentially as early as next season depending on how Kyle Dubas wants to develop him.
If the goal is to make the playoffs next year, Murashov may very well be the team's best option in net.
