Nick Roberston saga takes yet another unexpected turn

The team signed Robertson to a one-year deal worth $875,000. However, it is now being reported by Frank Seravalli that the Maple Leafs are likely to trade Robertson. Essentially, it would have been much easier to get rid of Robertson with a contract in place, first. Needless to say, Brad Treliving was motivated to get something done so Robertson could finally get his wish.

Roberson played 56 games with the Maple Leafs last season and has 27 points. However, throughout the offseason, it became clear as day that he was no longer content with his role on the team. This ultimately led to the trade talks, and the contract he was given this morning.

Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs get a deal done quickly. We're sure there are plenty of teams out there who would love to have Robertson, knowing his production is sure to improve.
